Dulles Airport officials said they are seeing record-breaking numbers of passengers so far in 2025, with no end to the growth in sight.
“We’re setting records at domestic, as well as international. International has been very, very strong,” Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority CEO Jack Potter told 7News.
The Transportation Security Administration tells 7News its ten busiest days ever for screening passengers at Dulles have all happened within the past year, with the two busiest days ever both happening just last week: TSA says last Friday, May 23, a record 45,908 passengers went through security, breaking a record of 45,173 set the previous day. The third highest day ever happened on April 11 of this year.
Some of the growth in passengers is driven by United Airlines, which tells 7News that Dulles International Airport is its fastest-growing hub. A spokesperson for United Airlines said the airline plans to add 30% more flights for this summer’s travel season than it did last year.
