DC Council has ordered the city’s Chief Financial Officer to issue a report looking into the feasibility of a business activity tax.

It comes as D.C. faces tough budget decisions and a predicted decline in revenue over the next several years.

The request was included as part of the Budget Support Act, which the council passed on Tuesday.
