Maryland Governor Wes Moore quelled rumors of a potential presidential campaign on Thursday, announcing he had no plans to seek the office in 2028.
That announcement came during an appearance on ABC’s “The View” after host Joy Behar mentioned George Clooney’s remarks on Moore in a CNN interview published on April 16.
“I’m really excited about the work that’s being done in the state of Maryland,” Moore said before listing numbers on labor force participation, the state’s service year option program, and several other items.
Moore, a lifelong resident of Maryland, said he instead hopes to get re-elected for Governor in 2026. Though, he might face opposition from former banking executive Ed Hale during the Democratic primary, per the Baltimore Sun.
