Amazon.com Inc. opened two new delivery stations in Landover and Laurel on Wednesday, following a new Beltsville location that opened in late October.
The openings confirm Washington Business Journal reporting from July 2020, which identified a 264,000-square-foot delivery station at 10406 Tucker St. in Beltsville, site of a former Sherwin-Williams Co. manufacturing plant, and a 172,000 square-foot delivery station at 5801 Columbia Park Road in Landover, the site of a former meatpacking plant.
The Laurel station spans 150,000 square feet and is located at 14601 Sweitzer Lane.
Amazon’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) delivery stations power the final stretch, or last mile, of the e-commerce platform’s order process. Nearby fulfillment centers ship packages to delivery stations, then the packages are loaded onto delivery vehicles and drivers deliver them to customers. The three stations will create more than 300 associate roles, plus additional driver jobs, said company spokeswoman Emily Hawkins.
