Urban One Inc.’s proposed $562 million Richmond casino has a new look and a new name: Richmond Grand Resort & Casino.

The Silver Spring media company and its partner on the project, Churchill Downs Inc. (NASDAQ: CHDN), recently unveiled new renderings as the project approaches a voter referendum in Virginia’s capital city. Early voting for the November election begins Sept. 22.

The project was narrowly defeated by Richmond voters two years ago, when it was called the One Casino + Resort, despite a $2 million marketing push. The project has worked its way back to the ballot this year after surviving fierce opposition from some Virginia lawmakers and efforts to get nearby Petersburg a casino instead of Richmond. More recently, it survived a challenge from a nonprofit that hosts charitable gaming nights at a local bingo hall.
