It’s time for a checkup at Prince George’s County Public Schools. Three private firms are teaming up to assess how well the school system is spending its money.
“We want to make sure that our dollars spent are being really well used and most importantly that we’re delivering what we need to for our kids and for our communities,” said Dannielle Glaros, vice chair of the Prince George’s County Council.
The council held a joint public meeting Tuesday night with the Board of Education to outline plans for analyzing the business processes of the $1.8 billion public school system.
The study, which costs more than $1 million, will assess the school system’s business management, including payroll and HR technology. It will also examine transportation and facilities, including security and maintenance.
Parents are being asked to offer their own appraisal of school specialty programs.
