Maryland Senator Angela Alsobrooks is throwing her support behind former D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie in the race for the District of Columbia’s next mayor.
Sen. Alsobrooks announced her endorsement on Monday, making her one of the more prominent Democratic figures to endorse a candidate in the race.
“Kenyan McDuffie is going to be a terrific mayor for the District of Columbia, and that is why I am honored to be endorsing him,” a portion of Sen. Alsobrooks’ statement read. “McDuffie will make the right policy decisions AND the right human decisions for Washington, D.C. He will fight for economic opportunity and will always stand in the breach fighting back against this president who is so hostile to the people of Washington, D.C., especially when it comes to any threat to Home Rule and DC’s RIGHT to govern itself.”
