Md. Senate Democrats Look To Add $520M To Hogan’s Proposed Stimulus Package

Senate Democrats in the Maryland General Assembly plan to move forward with Gov. Larry Hogan’s stimulus package as early as next week and will include an additional $520 million to target the state’s most vulnerable residents and small businesses.

The additional funds would bring the total amount of relief spending to $1.5 billion. Senate President Bill Ferguson, a Democrat from Baltimore City, said Hogan’s previously introduced $1 billion package served as a “framework” and “great starting point” for providing broad support to families and businesses. He said the additional spending proposed by Democrats would be introduced as an amendment to Hogan’s bill and target specific groups of residents and businesses that need extra help.

“Now is our time to act…We know that this crisis has not been felt equally and equitable recovery is essential,” Ferguson said. “We know that there must be more done immediately.”
