Gov. Wes Moore unveiled his budget proposal this morning, saying the budget focuses on four priorities:
Make Maryland safer
Make Maryland more affordable
Make Maryland more competitive
Make Maryland the state that serves
Moore said he would make investments in these areas without raising taxes. The spending plan totals $63.1 billion, which is down from $64 billion the year before.
Public safety spending includes $127 million for local law enforcement agencies – a $5 million increase. It also includes $10 million for a new Center for Firearm Prevention and Intervention and $16 million for programming within the Department of Juvenile Services.
