Amazon announced a hiring spree on Monday that will result in 4,400 new permanent jobs in Maryland over the next few months.
The majority of Amazon’s new hires, around 4,400, will be in the Baltimore region as part of a plan to recruit 100,000 new full and part-time employees across the country. In Greater Washington, some positions will be listed for delivery stations in Upper Marlboro and Waldorf, according to an Amazon spokesperson. She did not specify the number of positions Amazon will be filling at either of those locations.
The company is also hiring in the region for its second headquarters in Arlington, and plans to host a virtual career fair related to corporate and technology positions Sept. 16.
This is the fourth national hiring spree for Amazon this year as it looks to keep pace with increasing demand for e-commerce amid the coronavirus pandemic. Last week, the company also announced it planned to hire for 33,000 new tech and corporate jobs, with an average pay of $150,000.
