New statewide economic development program Go Virginia is putting up nearly $36 million in grant money — and a coalition of chambers of commerce and businesses across Northern Virginia are taking the first steps toward competing for it.
The Coalition of Northern Virginia Chambers, a collaboration between the Greater Reston and Loudoun County chambers, among others, and a group of more than 60 stakeholder businesses and organizations have picked a 13-member steering committee to help guide initial efforts.
That steering committee — with members from Northrop Grumman Corp., The Boeing Co., George Mason University and Cardinal Bank, among others — will nominate members that will form a Northern Virginia regional council, which will pitch potential economic development projects to the state for funding.
