The Washington Commanders have tapped Mark Clouse, the CEO and president of The Campbell’s Co., as its new team president overseeing the NFL franchise’s business operations.
He will begin his new role in late January, according to Tuesday’s announcement. His role will include planning the franchise’s next stadium.
Clouse steps into a role that was last held by Jason Wright, a former pro football player, who became the first Black person to hold a team president position in the NFL. The Commanders announced in July that Wright, who was hired by the team’s previous ownership, was no longer in that role and would remain on as a senior adviser through the end of the 2024 season.
Wright had been a partner at McKinsey prior to the Commanders, while Clouse has much deeper experience with big business.
