Silver Spring media company Urban One Inc. (NASDAQ: UONE) and its partners remain in the running to open a casino in Richmond after the city narrowed the pool to three contenders, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
The other two that remain in the competition are Maryland Live! developer The Cordish Cos. of Baltimore, and Bally’s Corp. (NYSE: BALY), a Rhode Island casino operator whose proposal includes Reston food service magnate Warren Thompson of Thompson Hospitality Corp.
Rejected proposals were one from the Pamunkey Indian Tribe of Virginia, one from Wetumpka, Alabama’s Wind Creek Hospitality and one from Las Vegas’s Golden Nugget, according to the Times-Dispatch report. The Pamunkey Indian Tribe is already moving forward with plans for a casino in Norfolk.
