David Iannucci, president and CEO of Prince George’s County Economic Development Corp., is stepping down, rounding off a 40-year career in economic development and public service.
His retirement will become effective Dec. 31. His permanent replacement will likely not be named until a new county executive takes office following Angela Alsobrooks’ election to the U.S. Senate.
“It’s time for me, time for the organization, time for a new generation to take leadership,” the 72-year-old Iannucci told me in an interview.
Over the decades, he’s served in top roles in both county and state government, including as secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and chief legislative officer under Gov. William Donald Schaefer.
