The St. James, which already lays claim to being Greater Washington’s largest athletic facility, is bulking up, again.
The company co-founded by Craig Dixon and Kendrick Ashton signed a lease earlier this week for retail space at the Adago, a multifamily building at 6828 Wisconsin Ave. about a half-mile south of the Bethesda Metro station, according to a source familiar with the situation. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Representatives for The St. James did not respond to requests for comment, and a representative for the building’s owner, TSA South Bethesda LLC, referred questions about the lease to representatives for the athletic club.
The roughly 37,500-square-foot lease comes just about a month after the ribbon was cut on the new St. James Performance Club at Reston Town Center. As in Reston, where it replaced a Crunch Fitness, The St. James Bethesda is backfilling space vacated by another fitness center operator. Washington Sports Club shuttered its long-time gym there amid its parent company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring.
