Prince George’s County, MD — In a major campaign announcement, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks endorsed Delegate Brooke Lierman to be the next Comptroller of Maryland. The announcement came via social media and in a recorded radio ad and will be followed by joint appearances on the campaign trail.
Delegate Lierman and County Executive Alsobrooks share an overlapping vision for a prosperous and thriving Prince George’s County. As both have said previously, in order for Maryland to reach its full potential, Prince George’s County must thrive. As one of Maryland’s largest jurisdictions and one that saw more than 100,000 people move there in the last decade, Prince George’s County is primed to play a leading role in the direction of our state. With Brooke Lierman as Comptroller and Angela Alsobrooks as County Executive, Prince George’s County will have a formidable team ensuring Maryland has a strong economic future ahead.

Delegate Lierman and County Executive Alsobrooks share many commonalities that they have bonded over, including being working mothers who have dedicated their careers to public service. In addition to the connections with their families, the County Executive and Brooke are sports fans, although sometimes find themselves on opposite sides of the NFL and MLB rivalry.
The endorsement from County Executive Alsobrooks follows on the heels of other notable endorsements including Senator Barbara Mikulski, Congressman John Sarbanes, Maryland AFL-CIO, Maryland Professional Fire Fighters, SEIU 1199, SEIU 32BJ, SEIU 500, all three UNITE HERE locals (7, 23, 25), the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, as well as state leaders like Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Congressman Jamie Raskin, Speaker Adrienne A. Brooke Lierman was elected to represent Maryland’s 46th Legislative District in the House of Delegates in 2014. After spending five years as a member of the Appropriations Committee in the House, she assumed a leadership role on the Environment and Transportation Committee in 2019. Additionally, she is the House Chair for the Joint Committee on Pensions, sits on the Joint Committee on Ending Homelessness, and founded the Maryland Transit Caucus. Brooke has successfully passed landmark legislation to invest in and improve public transit; end suspension and expulsion of young students; fund evidence-based gun violence prevention programs; aid sex trafficking victims; close loopholes in our family and paid leave laws and much more. In 2019, working with environmental groups and small businesses around the state, she passed the nation’s first statewide ban on Styrofoam food and beverage containers and in 2020 she passed the HOME Act, banning housing discrimination based on the renter’s source of income. When not in Annapolis, Brooke is a disability and civil rights attorney. She and her husband Eben Hansel live in Baltimore with their nine-year-old son, Teddy, and four-year-old daughter, Eliza.
