It certainly didn’t make Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker happy to shrink plans for the Prince George’s Regional Medical Center, a proposed new hospital at Largo Town Center, down by $100 million and 11 beds.
But when a state regulator called for that earlier this summer, he said he knew what he had to do for a project he says will be an economic development catalyst for surrounding areas.
“Did I want to do this? No. Was I happy about it? No,” Baker said in a sit-down at the Washington Business Journal, referring to a newer, smaller application submitted Aug. 31 to state regulators. “But I also understand we have to get this done.”
