New schools are going up all across Prince George’s County but according to County Councilmember Ed Burroughs, they are costing too much. And he blames the school system.
“There is certainly waste and it appears some level of incompetence,” Burroughs said. “That appears to be clear to me.”
Earlier this week, 7News reported that Burroughs and a majority of Councilmembers are requesting a State Inspector General’s investigation of the school construction program. The education committee voted to send a letter to the Inspector General containing several allegations of mismanagement.
“All we’re saying is we have to follow the money, see how its being spent, make sure its being spent in the right way,” Prince George’s Councilmember Krystal Oriadha said.
