Nearly eight years after it lost its bid to host a casino in Prince George’s County, Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc. is still sitting on the 21-plus acres off Indian Head Highway it acquired to land the deal.
The property, at 7707 Kaydot Road in Fort Washington, was briefly on the market in the first half of 2020, listed separately by two Maryland real estate agents on behalf of W. David Biron, a Maryland builder who had the site under contract and was looking for development partners or to flip it. But no sale took place.
“They wanted cash, 30 days done,” Biron said Thursday of Greenwood. But Biron, whose resume includes a three-year stint as construction manager for Greenwood’s Parx Casino outside of Philadelphia, said he wasn’t about to bet millions on a development play when there was no guarantee that Prince George’s County leaders would allow him, or others, to rezone the property to create a financially viable project.
Greenwood representatives did not return requests for comment.
