Montgomery County’s fledgling economic development group is launching a national search for a CEO as it prepares to receive official county designation.
This month, the County Council will consider County Executive Ike Leggett’s request to authorize the new Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation as the official local economic development group. Once approved, the designation will take effect July 1.
Last April, Leggett said he planned to replace the county’s economic development department with the nonprofit Montgomery County Economic Development Corp. and earned council approval for the idea in July. In October, Leggett named 11 local business leaders— including Ron Paul of EagleBank, James Brady of MedImmune and Terry Forde of Adventist HealthCare — to the board of the new entity.
