A new round of grants for small business owners of color in parts of Prince George’s County will be available this month.
The grants, totaling $500,000, will be available to business owners affected by the ongoing construction for the Purple Line as well as those located along Blue Line Metro stops in Prince George’s County, areas designated by the county for more transit-oriented development and affordable housing.
The funds were provided by PNC Financial Services Group Inc.’s (NYSE: PNC) PNC Foundation and the grant program will be administered by the Greater Washington Community Foundation.
GWCF will award 25 grants of $20,000 each plus technical assistance to businesses who apply between April 15 and May 13. The funds can be used for payroll, rent, utilities, marketing, technology, relocation services, capital improvements and more.
To be eligible for the grants, businesses must have 10 or fewer employees and have been operating in the target areas for at least three years, according to the GWCF. To be approved, applicants will have to show financial need, compliance with regulations and prospects for growth while demonstrating a positive community impact.
