Maryland’s casino industry reported a only a modest drop in monthly revenues in October, though MGM National Harbor’s October revenue fell more significantly that it did in September.
Against a backdrop of Covid-19 capacity limits and rising case counts in the state, the state’s six casinos pulled in nearly $142.7 million, a 0.9% decrease compared with October 2019. Still, four casino properties saw their year-over-year revenues grow, while two reported a slump compared to a year ago.
The losses were driving by MGM National Harbor, which brought in $56.6 million in revenue, a 5.5% year-over-year decrease, and Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino, which generated $17.3 million last month — a 9.5% dip compared to the year before.
Despite the decline, MGM, consistently a top performer in the state, still pulled in the largest sum among Maryland casinos. Its fortunes change significantly in September, however, when its revenue was down by just 0.4% compared to the same month of 2019.
