Maryland’s economy has continued to regain ground lost during the pandemic, with the state’s unemployment rate dropping to 5.7% in October and employers adding 14,900 jobs for the month, according to federal data released today.
It’s the lowest unemployment rate for the state since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. And it was the strongest month of job growth this year for Maryland’s private sector, the U.S. Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics said, and the second-strongest month for job growth in the state overall in 2021.
