Maryland Live Casino and Anne Arundel County awarded more than $18.6 million in local impact grants to various local organizations for fiscal year 2017, up more than $2 million from fiscal year 2016.
Working with the Local Development Council, which helps manage the allocation of county gaming tax revenue, the organizations granted the funds Thursday. Community-based organizations and nonprofit groups located within three miles of Maryland Live casino were eligible to apply for the grants.
The Local Development Council was established in Anne Arundel County after the opening of Maryland Live Casino in June 2012. The 15-member council advises the county on distribution of the grants.
