Luminis Health is taking steps to advance a big expansion at its Lanham hospital — now with a green light from the Prince George’s County Planning Board.
Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center, the product of a 2019 merger between Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis and Doctors Community Hospital, wants to more than double the size of its existing footprint at 8118 Good Luck Road with 619,590 square feet of new development.
The project would bring a 162,700-square-foot women’s pavilion, 157,290-square-foot hospital addition and nearly 300,000 square feet of medical office space to the campus, which currently comprises seven medical buildings totaling 509,800 square feet, according to documents submitted to the planning board, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
Following Thursday’s approval of the health system’s preliminary plan, the 207-bed LHDCMC can now develop the property while working with county leaders to get grading and site-work approvals, according to Justin McLeod, media relations specialist for Luminis Health.
