Another third-party logistics provider is expanding in Prince George’s County.
XPO Logistics Inc. (NYSE: XPO) has signed a lease for the entire 400,000-square-foot building at 14301 Mattawoman Drive near U.S. Route 301 and Maryland Route 5 in Brandywine to set up a contract logistics operation there. Allan Riorda, Ned Brady, and Tom Whelan, principals of Lee & Associates, brokered the lease for the landlord, Link Logistics Real Estate.
The facility, which features 52 docks and can accommodate 154 cars and 66 trailers, was built for Circuit City, and then became a distribution node for fellow electronics retailer hhgregg until a few years ago when that company went out of business. It’s been empty since then.
Link picked up the property for an unlisted price in 2015, according to information from the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation. Before that, Exeter Property Group had sold it for $12.9 million in 2010, the data show. It currently has an assessed value of $10.6 million.
