Airport authority announced Wednesday that passenger traffic at Dulles International Airport broke a nearly two-decade-old record last year, and Reagan National Airport also broke its all-time record.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) reported that 27.25 million passengers traveled through Dulles Airport in 2024, breaking the previous record of 27.05 million in 2005. Growth in international flights and United Airlines, which has a hub at Dulles, contributed to the record-breaking number.
Reagan National Airport (DCA) also broke a record set just a year earlier. In 2024, MWAA said 26.29 million people traveled through DCA, marking the first year since 2021 that Dulles had more passengers than Reagan National.
