February was a great month for job growth in Maryland, but the unemployment rate remains in a state of despair.
3,400 jobs were added in the state last month, according to a new report by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Maryland’s private sector added 4,600 jobs but the public sector employment fell an estimated 1,200 jobs, which included the loss of 700 federal government jobs.
And it does not even include the amount of federal layoffs that started in the middle of the month due to the timing of when the data is collected, BLS reported.
