Mayor Muriel Bowser and Mitch Landrieu, former mayor of New Orleans, renewed their acquaintance and talked about infrastructure Wednesday in Northeast D.C.
Landrieu is President Joe Biden’s infrastructure coordinator. He arrived on Gault Northeast near Minnesota Avenue where crews were busy replacing lead water pipes with copper ones free of charge to the homeowners. Science has found that lead is harmful to infants and children. The city’s gone through crises before linked to lead pipes.
The city’s using infrastructure funds to replace pipes for 28,000 D.C. residents by 2030.
