A D.C. cannabis cultivator plotting a major expansion this year has tapped a former Total Wine & More executive to guide it through its next phase of growth.
District Cannabis announced Monday that it has named Bethany Frick, who once oversaw store expansion for the Bethesda beverage company, as its new CEO and brought in Bryce Freeman, a former executive at Procter & Gamble and McCormick & Co. as its chief operating officer.
The moves come as District Cannabis, up to now a grower and distributor of marijuana products for both the medical and recreational markets, prepares to open its first two retail dispensaries — in D.C. and Hagerstown, Maryland — as well as a new processing facility in Hagerstown.
With three major projects in the works “it was time to upgrade our C-suite and bring in some outside talent,” explained Andras Kirschner, a District Cannabis co-founder and the operation’s head grower.
