After a national search and his final selection by Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, multiple sources confirm Millard House II will be revealed as the next superintendent of the Prince George’s County School system Wednesday as current CEO Monica Goldson retires later this month.
House left his job as Superintendent of the Houston Texas Independent School District last Friday. Houston’s Mayor tweeted that House improved the academic performance of the schools that needed attention.
The head of the Houston teacher’s union was unhappy he left.
“Out of the superintendents I have worked with in Houston he was by far the best,” said Jackie Anderson, President of the Houston Federation of Teachers.
7News has been unable to contact House, but two years ago when he accepted the Houston job he described his educational philosophy this way; “I want to focus on ensuring we provide the equitable experiences that ensure our students are college and career ready that takes work that takes planning.”
