Johnathan M. Medlock, Mayor – City Of District Heights, was appointed as interim District 6 early Tuesday morning. He will serve as the District 6 Councilmember for the next 7 months.
Medlock, is the 18th Mayor of the City of District Heights and has served the city as a Commissioner 2016-2017, Vice Mayor (2018), and Acting Mayor from November 2019 until being elected to office in July 2020. He will have to resign as Mayor and he is not awn election candidate.
In addition to his elected and appointed positions, Medlock is a member of the Maryland Municipal League (MML), National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO), and the Maryland Association of Counties (MACO). He is on the board of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia Black Child Development Institute (BDCI). From 2017-2019, Medlock was the only representative from Maryland serving on the Finance, Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Committee for the National League of Cities.
