The Baltimore City residential market had one of its strongest years ever in 2021 as home buyers flocked to the city in search of an affordable alternative to the pricier suburban housing markets.
The city saw a whopping $2.6 billion in sales last year as well as 11,358 total sales, according to figures released this week as part of Live Baltimore’s annual report detailing the local housing market. The median sales price for city properties was $200,000, which was 15% higher year-over-year, and the average days on market was 31.
“2021 is in many ways the best year Baltimore city has ever had in residential sales,” said Annie Milli, executive director of the nonprofit that works to draw residents to Baltimore. “It is the first time the city has ever passed $2 billion in home purchases.”
