As signs of progress surround Amazon HQ2’s construction site, community activists are calling for the county to develop a better plan for affordable housing.
A small group, with the Asian American Pacific Islander Civic Engagement group, protested on Thursday afternoon in front of Metropolitan Park.
Their focus is on the county’s housing grants program, which is meant to provide rental assistance to low-income households.
“It’s supposed to help people, but instead of helping people, it’s actually disenfranchising people,” said community activist Shaheera Sayed.
