A top broker and a cannabis growing expert are predicting some of Maryland’s vacant and abandoned warehouses could soon be revived as part of a new market for recreational marijuana growing facilities.
Voters last week approved a referendum to allow adult-use recreational cannabis. It is a move that is set to take effect in July, but still requires creation of a structured system by the General Assembly in the coming months.
Meanwhile, real estate speculation for the coming boom in recreational cannabis is beginning to take shape.
That will include repurposing of several Class B and Class C warehouses around the state, some that have been ignored, dormant or vacant for years.
