With about a month until students head back to class, hundreds of teaching jobs still need to be filled at schools across Maryland.
This week the State Superintendent of Schools shared new data with the Maryland Board of Education, revealing a recent exodus of teachers in the state.
In a presentation to the Board on Tuesday, Superintendent Mohammed Choudhury said 5,516 Maryland teachers left their jobs in 2022.
Nearly 40 percent of those teachers voluntarily resigned, according to data shared by Choudhury.
