After 10 years of dedicated service to the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, President & CEO David C. Harrington will end his tenure with the Chamber effective April 15th.
Mr. Harrington will join Kaiser Permanente’s Mid-Atlantic region as the Regional Senior Director of Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement. Mr. Harrington’s expanded role will include leading the Community Relations Strategy for Kaiser Permanente in Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland, including Greater Baltimore. A long time Prince George’s County business leader, former County Council Member, Mayor & Maryland State Senator, Harrington will assume responsibilities at Kaiser Permanente in late April.
During his tenure as President & CEO of Prince George’s County’s premier business organization, Mr. Harrington served as the primary advocate, policy advisor and spokesperson for over 500 businesses. Two years ago, The Washington Business Journal ranked the Chamber as one of the top twenty-five business associations in the Washington Metropolitan area, validating the impact of the Chamber’s role in the community under his leadership.
“David has contributed in so many ways to the economic vitality of Prince George’s County over many years, in several leadership roles, but his greatest contribution to the long-term health of our community may very well be the development of this organization as the place to be involved with if you are doing business in Prince George’s County,” said Chamber Board of Directors Chair, Brian Wheeler. “I am honored to have served with David, thankful for his friendship, and the Chamber Board wishes him the very best in his new role.”
“We are incredibly thrilled to have David Harrington join our incredible team in the Mid-Atlantic region, said Cynthia Cifuentes, Kaiser Permanente Vice President of Brand, Communications and Community Engagement. “Kaiser Permanente is a strong supporter of the business community, and the work chambers do is vital toward ensuring our communities thrive. We look forward to leveraging David’s years of experience and contributions in community to drive growth for our integrated healthcare system and expand our footprint in the Mid-Atlantic region.”
The Chamber Board is considering the appointment of an interim leader while a search is conducted for Mr. Harrington’s successor. The Chamber’s staff will maintain their momentum, and all upcoming events will continue as planned.
The Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce reaffirms its commitment to being the organization where the top leaders in the county come together to create a thriving business community, leadership on public policy and drive economic inclusion. The Board is thankful to Mr. Harrington for bringing the organization to this important and impactful place and is excited to find a new leader for the next phase of growth and development in Prince George’s County.
