Maryland’s sports betting handle totaled $25.5 million in February, the second full month of operations for the state’s first five sportsbooks.
That’s down $7 million from January’s $32.5 million handle, but higher than the $16.5 million wagered in December when the first sportsbooks in the state went live. Maryland Lottery and Gaming announced the latest totals Thursday.
Even with February being a shorter month, the total is notably lower than in January, and also includes bets on the Feb. 13 Super Bowl LVI, which were anticipated to have a positive impact on the state’s total.
Hanover’s Live Casino & Hotel reported the highest handle for an individual casino in February, taking $11.1 million worth of bets, followed by MGM National Harbor where sports bettors wagered $7.5 million.
