Maryland gubernatorial candidate Tom Perez has named former Baltimore councilwoman Shannon Sneed as his choice for lieutenant governor in the crowded Democratic primary.
Sneed, who served one term on the Baltimore City Council, most recently worked for U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) as a regional director, leading the congressman’s outreach efforts in Baltimore. She left the position last month.
Sneed is also a former journalist who worked in the city’s office of Employment Development and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
