New policies from a cadre of federal experts detailing how agencies will approach the Biden’s administration’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate said that unvaccinated contractors may need to submit a negative Covid test conducted no less than three days before entering a federal facility.
The Agency Model Safety Principles, updated by the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force on Monday, said that while the government works on introducing vaccine requirements into new federal contracts, onsite contractor employees may either submit to individual agency testing programs or, absent that, “must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test from no later than the previous three days prior.”
The guidance comes following the White House’s issuance of an executive order last week requiring federal employees and contractors to vaccinate in an effort to curb the ongoing effects of the pandemic.
The administration has designated Oct. 15 as the effective date for new contracts and contract extensions to include its new requirements, but Monday’s guidance addresses contractors not currently required to be vaccinated.
