Some Baltimoreans will soon have an option other than Comcast when signing up for internet service.
Verizon is quietly expanding in Baltimore by installing its Fios internet service in several apartment buildings. Among them, the Horizon House at 1101 N. Calvert St. and the Towers at Harbor Court Condominium located by the Inner Harbor.
How vast Verizon’s expansion will be remains unclear. In a statement provided to the Baltimore Business Journal, spokesman Chris Serico said the company has “committed to significant investment in expanding our network in Baltimore and beyond.”
“We offer Fios internet and digital phone service in parts of Baltimore City, and continue to expand our 5G wireless network there to offer our customers the quality experience and the reliability they expect and deserve — today and in the future,” Serico said.
