The Greater Washington Partnership — an alliance of large company CEOs and industry leaders — has formed a new council focused on inclusive growth spearheaded by Salamander Hotels & Resorts CEO Sheila Johnson and Jason Wright, president of the Washington Football Team.
The newly announced Inclusive Growth Strategy Council will convene 30 business leaders from across the D.C. region to create an actionable, regional blueprint for inclusive growth, craft a new regional economic indicators dashboard, create more collaboration among regional organizations and accelerate inclusive recovery with actions focused on the hospitality industry, the partnership said.
“We have some major problems in this country today but especially in the District,” said Johnson, who has lived in and around the D.C. area since 1972. “I have really watched, and I think we have some staggering income disparity. And we have what might be described as generational poverty, especially among people of color — and that I really notice.”
