Six Maryland county executives and the mayor of Baltimore have sent a letter to Gov. Larry Hogan encouraging him to work more closely with local jurisdictions as the state faces a surge in Covid-19 cases.
According to The Baltimore Sun, the letter says Hogan, a Republican, has not participated in a statewide call with local leaders in five months and has failed to give jurisdictions warning when he lifts statewide restrictions related to the coronavirus.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Prince George’s County Executive Alsobrooks and the executives of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Frederick and Howard counties as well as Baltimore Mayor Jack Young signed the letter. All are Democrats.
“We stand ready to work with you,” the elected officials wrote in the letter, according to The Baltimore Sun. “It’s time to reengage in our efforts to save lives and protect public.”
