A Columbia shopping center in the midst of a years-long overhaul signed three new leases this week, including one for a grocer.
Howard International Grocer will move into 1,733 square feet at the Long Reach Village Center, becoming the latest tenant to help fill widespread vacancies that began in 2011 with the exit of anchor Safeway.
The four decade-old center at 8775 Cloudleap Court has undergone a series of updates and repairs over the past several years as part of the Long Reach Rising Revitalization project led by Howard County. In the past year, more than 45,000 square feet of office and retail space has been leased, including the 25,000 square feet left behind by Safeway, county officials said in an announcement Wednesday.
About 70% of the center is leased today, according to the county.
