There was a parade of line cooks and more than a few oniony tears at a Capitol Heights community center Friday, as MGM National Harbor set out to fill nearly 200 line cook positions open across the property.
There were also rounds of applause as many applicants received job offers to be line cooks in one of MGM’s many restaurants, from the high-end steakhouse from the Voltaggio brothers to José Andrés’ Fish.
Those offered jobs had made it through an interview and a quick demonstration of knife skills — hence the onions — the first of which was more important because it gave the massive casino and resort’s many executive chefs an idea of attitude and work ethic.
