The National Institutes of Health plans to consolidate several locations in suburban Maryland into a pair of adjacent buildings in Bethesda after wrapping up a roughly nine-month search for alternatives in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
The General Services Administration has awarded a trio of leases that would concentrate the Health and Human Services agency at 6701 and 6705 Rockledge Drive, enabling it to shed nearly 155,000 square feet in multiple locations in Bethesda and Rockville.
The award follows a presoliciation the GSA issued last December seeking up to 539,000 square feet. The NIH already had a presence in both buildings, known collectively as Rockledge Centre and owned separately by ECC Rockledge MD LLC and Rockledge Centre Associates. The leases are valued at about $203 million, according to a notice the GSA posted with FedBizOpps.gov.
