Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker said in an interview Thursday that Gov. Larry Hogan’s executive order on school start dates didn’t just shut out legislators. It also shut out local concerns in favor of a one size fits all solution.
“I was absolutely stunned when I saw the governor sign this,” Baker said in a phone interview with Jimmy Mathis, who was filling in for C4 on WBAL. “If you want to start after Labor Day in Montgomery County or Howard County or Prince George’s County, you can do that today. The locality has control do that.”
He said lawmakers he worked with when he was in the General Assembly felt the same way.
