President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he was told Venezuela will solely be buying American-made products with the money the nation receives from a new oil deal.
He shared the news just hours after Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that the U.S. will sell Venezuela’s current and future oil to American refineries, as well as to other countries.
In a separate Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump said Venezuela is set to deliver between 30 million and 50 million barrels of “high quality” oil to the U.S. He said the oil will be sold at its market price, with the funds to be “controlled” by the president “to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States.”
