The superintendent of Prince George’s County Public Schools is facing mounting pressure from the educators he leads. The county’s largest teachers’ union has issued a vote of no confidence in Superintendent Millard House II, citing what they call “a lack of progress on systemic issues” plaguing the district.

In an exclusive interview with WUSA9, House defended his leadership and highlighted recent improvements, while acknowledging the work still left to do.

“Our members no longer have confidence in the superintendent’s leadership and his ability to solve the systemic failures that our school system has been dealing with,” said Dr. Donna Christy, president of the Prince George’s County Educators Association.

Christy said the union has repeatedly brought concerns to the superintendent’s attention, including problems with payroll, staffing shortages, building safety, and a lack of strong school leadership. But she claims those concerns have gone unaddressed.

“There’s been no progress or improvement,” Christy said.

According to the union, a recent survey of more than 1,000 members found that at least 90% lack confidence in district leadership, key services such as transportation, student support, staffing, and building operations.
