Under Armour has opened a new manufacturing and design center in Baltimore with the hopes of modernizing the manufacturing process.
The UA Lighthouse center opened Tuesday at Port Covington.
The facility features new manufacturing technology including 3-D printing and body scanning for accurate measurements. It also includes devices that allow rapid prototyping for apparel. The company says it hopes to use the new technology to improve efficiency and product quality.
Under Armour also hopes to replicate the process with partner factories domestically and internationally.
Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank says the center is intended to reinvent the manufacturing process and to reinvigorate domestic apparel making.
